The staff at the Charity Shop are always pleased to receive donated goods of all kinds: small pieces of furniture and furnishings, clothing and jewellery, bric-a-brac, kitchen items, books, toys and games etc. in fact just about anything and everything that is saleable.
However, please remember, a Charity Shop is not a dumping ground for rubbish. It is not at all charitable for anyone to fill black plastic bags and cardboard boxes with dirty clothes, broken toys and cracked/chipped china that should be taken to the tip; or a load of junk that has been left over from a car boot sale. Those of you who watched the recent TV series "Mary Queen of Shops" will have heard that most of the hundreds of bags of clothes they sorted in the series contained only one or two items considered saleable. Regrettably, in our own ten years' experience, we have received many broken items, dirty and moth-eaten clothing, soiled underwear and nightclothes - even a dirty nappy!
Please, if you want to help our cause, donate a few good items that will really assist us in raising much-needed funds.
The shop is normally open from 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and from 9 a.m. until lunch time on Saturdays. It is hoped to extend the Saturday opening hours but, to avoid a possible wasted journey, anyone traveling a long distance should always check by telephone beforehand with either Yvonne or Tina.
The shop is run by a very good team of voluntary staff, several of whom have generously given their time to the Charity ever since the original shop opened its doors in October 2000. Their much valued efforts have helped enormously towards funding the combined kenneling bills and veterinary fees (currently never less than £4000 a month) for the 800-plus dogs that the Charity has re-homed since gaining registered charity status in January 2000.
Sincere thanks to all our customers and to everyone that has helped and supported the Charity Shop over the years.
