GERMAN SHEPHERDS IN NEED OF NEW HOMES
It has not been our regular practice to advertise a particular dog on the website because it would be difficult for us to keep the site updated in an ever changing daily situation. It also causes disappointment to see a photograph of a dog you would dearly like to have in your home, only to find out when you telephone that it is already living in someone else's house.
A rescue charity is not at all like a shop where you are able to decide what stock is needed and place an order. The dog co-ordinator never knows what the next buzz of the telephone will be, either a dog needing to find a new home or a new home being offered to a needy dog.
The Charity normally has seven or eight dogs in boarding kennels available for immediate re-homing subject to a satisfactory home-check being carried out (and others on a waiting list to come into care). There are rarely an even number of dogs and bitches - and there can be no knowing what ages, colours, coat lengths will be available from day-to-day or even week-to-week. G.S.D. 2000 rescue dogs that need to be rescued from Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Dorset and Wiltshire, and do not pick and choose, other than refusing dogs considered to be the wrong temperament to re-home with a family. Unfortunately the necessary resources to travel countrywide are not yet available and sadly there has never been a shortage of dogs needing to be rescued from the designated area, there has never been a need to look elsewhere.
However, sometimes very special homes are needed for a particular dog and realising it will take so much longer to find that home, we do put details on the website, in the hope that by letting as many people as possible know the problem, someone suitable will come forward.
